FAQ
What is its primary function?
It acts as a gateway and master/slave device, allowing a PROFIBUS DP master to control and exchange data with AS-Interface I/O modules.
What AS-Interface specification does it support?
It supports AS-Interface Specification V2.1 (up to 62 AS-i I/O modules in one segment) and integrated analog value processing (profiles 7.3/7.4).
What are the key differences between the older 6GK1415-2AA00 (Link 20) and the 6GK1415-2AA01 (Link 20E)?
• The older 2AA00 supports up to 31 AS-i slaves (Specification V2.0 style limits/behavior), whereas the 2AA01 supports up to 62 slaves under V2.1.
• Reconfiguration and different GSD files are required if you are swapping or upgrading between models.
Can it be replaced by a newer model like the 6GK1415-2AA10?
Yes. The newer Siemens 6GK1415-2AA10 (AS-i V3.0) is functionally downward-compatible with the 6GK1415-2AA01 and can often run using previous GSD configurations, though updating the STEP 7 hardware configuration is recommended.
